Ziletti's dedication is followed by an index to Lucio Mauro’s treatise, entitled: "Tavola per alphabeto de' luoghi di queste Antichità di Roma", and by two indices to Aldrovandi's work, the first entitled, "Tavola de' luoghi, dove le statue sono, secondo l'ordine del libro", a list of collections according to the itinerary followed in the book, and the second entitled, "Tavola de' nomi de le statue, che si dechiarano chi fussero, per Alphabeto”, an iconographical index of the statues. Certainly the elaboration of both indices, which added considerably to the attractiveness and utility of the book for visitors and scholars and thus to its market appeal, represents a part of the "fatica" to which Ziletti alludes. FN 13: The dedication is dated 15 February 1556. Regarding the elaboration of the first treatise, Lucio Mauro’s Antichità, the editor recounts in the dedication the help he received from many scholars and gentlemen: "Et à tal fine io mi posi quest'anni à dietro à mettere in opera molti rari ingegni, valendomi ancora della gran cortesia et benignità di molti gran signori in Roma, per mettere insieme un trattato delle antichità di quella città, che già hebbe imperio di tutto il mondo, materia tanto più desiderata, quanto più rivoltata fin qui da molti”.
