  • came to Rome presumably together with Antonio Blado
  • on July 15, 1535, he dived together with Francesco de Marchi (author of Della Architettura militare del capitanio F. de' Marchi..., Brescia 1599, f. 42) into the lake of Nemi to investigate the famous ancient Roman ships visible from the surface
  • author of the first topographic map of Rome (May 26, 1551), printed by Blado and based (presumably) on Marliano's map(s) in his Topographia Vrbis Romae from 1544. Bufalini's map provided the basis for the one made by Paciotto and printed by Lafréry 1557 in Rome.
  • measurements for the map were finished in 1548 and started – according to Trevisi, the printer of the second edition of 1560 – presumably in 1544 = close to the Accademia's project, while Panvinio reports (De Republica Romana,1558 = Cod. Vat. 6683, p. 202), the Bufalini had worked on the map over 20 years, i.e. since 1531.
  • on the map: the coat-of-arms of Conte Michele della Torre / Torriani (1547-1550 papal nuntius in France
  • took part in the plannings for the restoration of the Vatican's fortifications, mostly executed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger under pope Paul III.
  • also worked with / for the papal architect Jacopo Meleghino
