- may also have worked as an architect and engineer: Doni mentions in his Libraria that there were two unpublished works by Marcolini: a Trattato di fare varie sorti di horologi (Treatise on how to make different sorts of clocks) and a book about "tutti gli ingegneri antichi e moderni"! (= i.e. something similar to Vasari's Vite?)
- Marcolini's competence in architectural theory is also mentioned by Barbaro who said that he consulted Marcolini many times during his work on his commentary on Vitruvius.
- In 1545 Marcolini built the wooden bridge "ponte lungo" over the largest canal in Murano, which was praised by F. Sansovino Andrea Calmo.
